In little over half a century of its existence, this is the first time ever Pizza Express is holding a Hawaiian themed celebration. The reason being, it is for the first time Pizza Express has agreed to have pineapple as a topping on its pizza. Therefore, to showcase this Hawaiian influence on its offerings, Pizza Express has curated a special menu with hand-picked dishes. This Hawaiian themed menu that is provided alongside the regular menu entails very select and classy offerings of four types of pizzas, an appetizer, a seafood pasta as well as interesting cocktails and mocktails. So, here is a look at what I ended up trying from the aforementioned menu: LAMB POLPETTE This was the yummiest preparation I tasted and comprised of beautifully cooked lamb meat balls that were moist and had a lovely herb flavor. These meat balls were baked immersed in a deliciously tangy pomodoro sauce and were served with freshly baked dough sticks. All elements of the dish complimented each other perfectly to provide a superb experience to the taste buds. POLLO CAJUN PIZZA Since I do not eat pork, I settled for a chicken pizza from the Hawaiian themed menu. This pizza was a rectangular one and was laden with yummy Cajun sauce and luscious Cajun-spiced chicken. The toppings of sundried tomatoes and emilgrana added beautiful textures and flavors to the pizza. ![]() LINGUINE CAJUN GAMBERO This was a creamy and in my opinion comfortably spicy pasta dish comprising of prawns, sundried tomatoes and mixed peppers. Cajun flavored sauce and a Cajun seasoning were the major flavor components of this dish. MOLTO BERRY For a hot summer soiree, a mocktail of apple juice laced with berry flavor was a perfect respite. This was the only beverage i managed to try from the Hawaiian special bar menu since I was going to be at the wheel. BAKED CHEESECAKE Well this sweet delight is part of the regular menu at Pizza Express. Nevertheless I could not resist the temptation of ending my meal on a sweet note. This was a a beautiful vanilla flavored baked cheese cake. It was rich, decadent and was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle of berry coulis. I did have a good experience with the food at Pizza Express. However, I felt the service needs a lot of improvement. So, do try out the Hawaiian Pizza Express menu and let me know of your experience. Till then, HAPPY EATING... |
