The Boston Cupcakery, brainchild of foodie buddies Yash Modi and Sagar Verma commenced its culinary journey back in 2013 with signature cupcake creations of Erik Lars Larsen. But, today with the duo's foresight and their R&D head Prangi Jain's insightful inputs, has burgeoned in a way that it has become a sought after eatery on the Mumbai gourmet scene attracting scores of celebrities and gluttons alike. Their recently launched outlet in Bandra West, Mumbai is a glutton's paradise. Don't go merely by the nomenclature of this place. In addition to delish cupcakes and refreshing beverages, the eatery offers some lip-smacking savoury fares too that are crafted from the finest ingredients and are guaranteed to wow your taste buds. So, here is a look at my gluttony at this place: CUPCAKES Chocolate Chip: This was one rich and sinful chocolate treat. The cupcake was dense, moist and could be enjoyed well on its own without any frosting. However, the semi-sweet chocolate frosting garnished in copious amounts of dark chocolate chips further pumped up the richness and flavor of this cupcake. Apple Caramel: This cupcake too had a scrumptious chocolate base like the aforementioned one. The caramel was used in a restrained manner, yet asserted its flavor in a conspicuous way. The only let down was that the apple component was somewhere lost between the chocolate base and the caramel. BROWNIE Hazelnut Fudge Brownie: This is your quintessential, yummy brownie topped with silken chocolate hazelnut paste aka Nutella. It is a must try at this food joint for whom Nutella is bae. SIGNATURE DESSERT COFFEE Cafe Medici: The experience of indulging in this caffeine creation is truly an exceptional one. A pleasing citrusy aroma engulfs the air upon this beverage’s arrival at the table. The recipe entails chocolate and fresh orange peel slivers doused with a double shot of espresso or doppio and finished off with a generous dose of frothy cappuccino cream. The combination of coffee, chocolate and orange zest was a beautiful balance of sweet and bitter flavors that was a pleasure to the palate. I required no added sugar except that inherent in the chocolate to relish this beverage in its hot form. SAVORY WAFFLES Barbequed Chicken Waffles: Why should waffles be served with only sweet toppings? Well, this dish definitely drives home the point that savory toppings on waffles is a arguably a fine culinary decision. Generous amount of succulent chicken tossed in superbly flavorsome homemade barbecue sauce was served over a bed of waffles and lettuce leaves. A drizzle of chipotle mayonnaise completed this hearty dish. ![]() ROSTI WAFFLES Potato Rosti Waffles with Red Velvet Hummus: This dish was nothing short of poetry on a plate. The smear of creamy, subtly sweet and tangy red velvet or beetroot hummus immediately grabs you attention. This is to be enjoyed with two perfectly crisp wedges of potato rosti churned out from a waffle maker. A feta cheese and lettuce salad mixed with vinaigrette dressing acts as a acidity introducing element in the dish bringing all the ingredients on the plate together deliciously. So, do try out this place and let me know of your experience. Till then, HAPPY EATING... |
