A long, relaxed weekend at home becomes even more pleasurable if you have delivery kitchens providing scrumptious food at your doorstep. One such place that I ordered food from over the bygone weekend was The Central Kitchen operating out of Sion, Mumbai. One can place an order with them either through a phone call or their website or app.

So, here is a look at the food I ended up ordering from this place:

CHICKEN MALAI TIKKA
Six medium sized pieces of boneless chicken garnished with grated cheese made up this appetizer. The chicken was succulent and had a pleasant smokiness reminiscent of its cooking in a tandoor or charcoal fired oven. The use of cream and spices in its marination had imbibed the chicken with a rich, earthy flavor.

DAL MAKHANI
Ural dal (black gram) is slow cooked for hours in a tomato-based gravy mildly flavored with spices like ginger and chilli powder and laden with dollops of makhan or butter. Indulgence in this lentil preparation was pure bliss and I can easily term this dish as my comfort food.

BUTTER CHICKEN (BONELESS)
This was a rich, surprisingly not greasy, luscious chicken dish with a sweet flavor profile. I loved this preparation where spices did not overpower the tartness of tomato puree and flavors from butter & cream used to arrive at this thick gravy. Also, chicken chunks were present in ample amount and this satisfied a non-vegetarian glutton like me.

LACCHA PARATHA
The flipside of ordering in food that gets delivered in a timeframe of about an hour is that the tandoor made flat breads tend to become chewy. This was the scenario in case of my order as well. But, this situation is not within the control of the restaurant as some things are just meant to be consumed immediately and not after a lot of lingering. My advice would be skip the rotis, naans, parathas for home delivery and order rice or simply fire up a griddle and crisp them up before eating.

My experience of ordering food from this home delivery service was a pleasant and hearty one. Food was delivered within the promised time and the packaging was neatly done. This place caters to localities in and around Sion but they do serve extended geographies if you meet their minimum billing requisition.

So, do try out this place and let me know of your experience.
Till then, HAPPY EATING...
