EATING OUT: A QUICK LUNCH STOPOVER AT RISTORANTE PREGO, NARIMAN POINT, MUMBAI

An afternoon drive all the way from suburbs to Nariman Point had surely got my friend and me super hungry. All we wanted now was some place that offered us an escape from the scorching heat for few minutes and also provided delicious food. So, we zeroed in on Ristorante Prego at CR2 Mall in Nariman Point en route to our destination.

As we made our way in the restaurant, we were greeted by a very jovial staff that quickly settled us on a table for two. The restaurant has a very classic and subtle ambience that compliments the cuisine being put up. We quickly got down to the task of ordering food and here is what we ended up eating:

APPETIZER
Grilled Chicken Noisettes topped with Salsa Arrabiata & Crunchy Crust
The appetizer with six well-crafted noisettes or rounded, buttery pieces of grilled chicken was very filling and delicious. The noisettes were topped with salsa and sprinkling of cheese and placed on a super thin slice of same cheese, which had been covered with a small drizzle of balsamic sauce. Additional sauce was provided should anyone require more of it.  The chicken was tasty, moist and well-seasoned. The salsa, cheese and the sauce went on to add different layers of flavor and texture to the dish. I would definitely order this dish again, if I get a chance to be in this restaurant again. It was the best dish we had.
PIZZA
Roast Chicken, Onion & Mushroom
For the main course we decided to skip the pasta for a thin-crust pizza that came topped with shredded, roasted chicken and mushroom slices. The addition of cooked onions in the topping had imparted a sweet taste to the pizza since the cooking had caramelized the onions. We went in for a sprinkling of chili flakes to balance out the sweetness from the onions. But, the sweetness of the onions overpowered the dish completely including the flavor of the roast chicken.

BEVERAGES
We settled in for the fresh juices that the restaurant had to offer. The taste was good but what we liked was that they did not have added sugar and were quite refreshing. Two juices that we ended up ordering were as under. Hope I have got the fruit & vegetable combinations right:
  • Apple, Carrot, Beetroot & Lime Juice
  • Pineapple, Apple, Ginger, Mint & Lime Juice
Do visit this restaurant and let me know how your experience was.
Till then, HAPPY EATING…
