This KHAMEERI NAAN made in very select, humble bakeries nestled in quaint bylanes around Dongri area of Mumbai has a very raw appeal.
The fermentation process lends a very peculiar aroma (not favoured by many) and a very earthy flavor. The texture is tough and rational for this being the bread acts like a true sponge softening up on soaking in the salan/shorba/curries it is dipped in without crumbling. It is best eaten with minced meat/kheema masala, mutton/gosht ka salan and chicken/murgh ka shorba. Depending upon its size - small, medium, big and jumbo the price per piece ranges from INR 4 - 25. But, beware of bakeries passing of normal bread shaped as discs for this special naan.
