This KHAMEERI NAAN made in very select, humble bakeries nestled in quaint bylanes around Dongri area of Mumbai has a very raw appeal. The fermentation process lends a very peculiar aroma (not favoured by many) and a very earthy flavor. The texture is tough and rational for this being the bread acts like a true sponge softening up on soaking in the salan/shorba/curries it is dipped in without crumbling. It is best eaten with minced meat/kheema masala, mutton/gosht ka salan and chicken/murgh ka shorba. Depending upon its size - small, medium, big and jumbo the price per piece ranges from INR 4 - 25. But, beware of bakeries passing of normal bread shaped as discs for this special naan.

If anyone gets a recipie for this naan, sold during the ramada months and weekends,I shall be very grateful. In fact, I will ask someone to and request a recipe, or inshallah Allah, try and go myself and ask ....... We never went there The naans were brought home hot and savory! Deliciously decadent wth lamb and paya and tandoori roti as well!!! Well those were the days....

Is this the same naan served with Bombay roadside Kheeri Kaleji? If yes, I am also looking for the naan recipe.
