FBAI SOIREE @ CAFÉ MOJO, MUMBAI

The advent of Friday is an excuse for revelry and what better way to commence the weekend than a soiree with fellow foodies from Food Bloggers Association, India (FBAI). Leaving behind the drudgery of the day, I made my way through the bustling, business locality of MIDC, Andheri East to arrive at Café Mojo in the Goldfinch Hotel.

Café Mojo has been designed around the theme of a modern day English pub complete with typical elements like beer taps, soft lighting, bricked walls and oak table setting. The place promises to delight the draught beer fanatics who now do not need to wait for someone to serve them chilled beer or refill their beer towers. With an interactive E-Pub mechanism patrons are just a card swipe away to pouring themselves their favorite, chilled beer from a beer tap at their very own tables.

Also, the food menu has ample options in terms of appetizers, burgers, wraps, pizza and main course that one can gorge on. Here is a look at a few of the appetizers that I ended up sampling:
NON-VEGETARIAN APPETIZERS
  • CHICKEN WINGS
This was my favorite dish for the evening and comprised of chicken wings with a delicious Barbeque sauce glaze that had just the right amount of sweetness to wow the taste buds.
  • THAI FRIED FISH CUBES
These were yummy basa fish cubes coated in a Thai Chilli and lemongrass rub and fried until they had a crispy exterior and a soft core.
  • PERI PERI CHICKEN
This preparation comprised of juicy chicken strips laced in house special peri-peri sauce that was a bit less spicy for my liking pizza. However, the chicken was moist and had imbibed flavors of the sauce well.
VEGETARIAN APPETIZERS
  • PESTO BBQ MUSHROOMS
An ardent fan of mushrooms I enjoyed this dish with much zeal. Tandoor cooked mushrooms were doused with creamy pesto making this a rich, lip-smacking appetizer.
  • VEGGIE BERGWICH
This was your quintessential thin crust pizza with toppings of vegetables that had a conspicuous black pepper flavour. A layer of melted cheese spread over the veggies made this dish a delicious one.
  • C3 BALLS
The name of the dish is derived from the three central ingredients – chilli, corn and cheese used to make this appetizer. This dish was a disappointment in terms of flavors as well as texture. The chilli and corn did not exhibit themselves at all in the dish while the cheese filling was hard and dry.

Since I was going to be at the wheel I decided to stick to fruit juices and mocktails as thirst quenchers for the evening. Also, for those who wish to enjoy sheesha the place has an open air, upper deck where one can do so. In my opinion, the only thing I found underwhelming about the place was the high decibel music that proves as an impediment to any kind of conversation since English pubs were created with the whole idea of people socializing and conversing over their drinks.

Do let me know of your experience at this place.
Till then, HAPPY EATING...
