It is always a great relief if you know how the food you consume makes it to your plate. With the recent controversy that hit the instant noodle category in India, one would want to know if food products on store shelves are indeed fit for our consumption. The best way to have answers to these questions is when we start questioning. Questioning brings to fore a great deal of much needed information which otherwise seems implied and assumed.
The ITC You Ask We Answer Bloggers’ Meet recently held at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai provided bloggers like me, a window to my aforementioned contemplations. The session began with Mr. Rajesh VL, Chief Executive - Foods Business at ITC Limited. He promptly took us through the story of ITC Foods, the way they created some of the most sought after food brands in the country and how these have set the standards of excellence for their contemporaries.
He then handed over the mantle to Ms. Kavita Chaturvedi, Head of Marketing & Executive Committee Member at ITC Limited, Foods Division to give all present an exhaustive insight pertaining to the instant noodle brand Sunfeast Yippee. I am an ardent fan of instant noodles and have consumed a wide variety of brands, Sunfeast Yippee from ITC being one of them. With the recent controversy surrounding instant noodles, apprehensions towards this food category have been running high. However, I found my apprehensions put to rest with the entire detailing provided by Ms. Chaturvedi including details of test reports results of Sunfeast Yippee. All these details are available for everyone to access over http://sunfeastyippee.com.
The meet then went into an exciting mode where the attendees were divided into groups and asked to come up with innovative food preparations with Sunfeast Yippee. After getting to know the genesis of this worthy brand, we were all very enthusiastic to work on this task and we did. By some quirk of fate our team got the name Sunfeast Smashers. Even though we were judged the runner up for our creation – The Yippee Bombay Sandwich, we utterly enjoyed the whole exercise.
It was indeed a humble experience to understand how one of the biggest FMCG companies of the country pays attention to not only the brands they create but also the products that eventually make their way into millions of households in the country.
