An artisanal bread experience awaits Mumbaikars at The Lalit Boulangerie, Mumbai that will be swinging into operation from coming week. Keshav Suri, Executive Director, The Lalit Group is the brain behind this promising new venture. The place is set to bring a plethora of delicious, hand-crafted, flavored breads like focaccia, ciabatta, multi-grain loaves devoid of preservatives and potassium to be relished not only for breakfast but also high tea.The boulangerie will also be dishing out cakes chocolates and other confectionery items. I was privileged to be invited for the Traditional CHRISTMAS CAKE MIXING event to mark the prelaunch of this boulangerie. Rivers of Old Monk and wines made their way into the Christmas cake ingredients. This cake mixing tradition is one merry occasion being experienced since 16th century where family and friends come together for preparation of the most sought after Christmas cake laden with fruit, dry fruit & liquor. The apt taste and textures for this cake are reached by allowing the ingredients to soak in and mature in the alcohol for almost 40 days. So, without any delay all guests happily got into action to get the cake mix ready. This activity was then followed by a sumptuous indulgence in the lavish Sunday brunch at the 24/7 restaurant of the hotel. The lavish spread included an array of lip-smacking salads, cheese, Asian dishes, biryani and other Indian delicacies, snack preparations from Gujarati cuisine and numerous mouth-watering desserts. Live chaat, pasta, pizza, egg and shawarma counters were also operational as part of the brunch.
It was fun-filled experience and I thoroughly enjoyed myself being part of the cake mixing and then relishing a delicious Sunday brunch. Till then, HAPPY EATING...
