The mention of Kotkapura city conjures up images of the famous Atta Chicken. But, an interaction with the locals will soon tell you that there is another signature dish this city takes pride in. The Kotkapura Royal Dhodha House, started & run by the Vig family has a very special delicacy to offer, the DHODHA, that is a crowning jewel in the culinary history of this city.
This sweet delight has been around for more than a century now. Dhodha was created back in 1912 as an energy rich food to be consumed by wrestlers. But, today owing to its delicious taste it has become a revered sweet treat.
So what goes into a delicious Dhodha?
Well, the recipe has been kept a secret, only known to generations of the Vig family. However, after tasting and also reading contents on the pack, some ingredients I could say that go into it include- milk, ghee, sugar, wheat beans, cashewnuts in addition to their secret recipe of select condiments. These are cooked together for hours to reach that perfect blend.
Although available in Kothapura and Ludhiana majorly, the Dhodha House does take orders online on their site to deliver to select cities in India.
