I am blessed with a sweet gum so I end up finding sugary treats to indulge in wherever I go. My trip to the United Kingdom was no different. I came across some simple sweet delights that I took a liking for instantly and would recommend these to anyone who is travelling to the United Kingdom (UK) especially London and Edinburgh. Here is a look at 5 of these treats: While in the UK do not forget to savor the TUNNOCK'S TEACAKE. This is very unlike a regular teacake. It has a shortbread base topped with soft marshmallow and the entire arrangement is then given a thin coating of milk chocolate. A bite into this sweet delight gives you an instant sugar rush. I came across these delish, crispy CARAMELISED PEANUTS & ALMONDS being made by vendors on streets outside the Tower of London. I have never come across a more generous coating of caramel and got addicted to these instantly. Nothing delights my taste buds more than a rich, creamy scoop of icecream. While walking through Green Park enroute Buckingham Palace I came across a small kiosk of Colicci selling hot dogs, waffles, icecream etc. I went in for waffle topped with nutella and PURBECK'S (the award winning Dorset icecream) HONEYCOMBE HASH flavor. The waffles were slightly chewy but the ice cream was an absolute treat laden with caramel crisps. The Purbeck's ice cream is a must try if you are in the United Kingdom. The pure butter SHORTBREAD FINGERS from Walkers are the most sought after baked delight of Scotland. Made by following a recipe that is more than a century old Walker recipe, these buttery, sugary, crumbly biscuits are a yummy treat. You can pair these with a hot cup of coffee or simply munch on them if you are craving something sweet. DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHUNK & DARK CHOCOLATE COOKIES. These are super rich, gooey and absolutely delicious. Ben's cookies does not use chocolate chips but huge chunks of chocolate to make their awesome cookies. Also, these are baked fresh every day from scratch and you might even have to wait until a batch comes out as they literally fly off the counter.
So, do try out these sweet delights the next time you are in the United Kingdom. Till then, HAPPY TRAVELLING…
